The Belgian Chambers of Commerce wants to be the reference partner for companies that want to do business in a sustainable manner.
In 2020, the Federation took up the challenge to win the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and to be awarded the SDG Pioneer Certificaat by 2024.
Over the next three years, we will carry out actions in each of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which will then be evaluated by an external committee. On 22 March, the first part of our action plan was successful: the Federation received the title of VCDO Laureate 2022!
A well-designed whistleblower policy is important for sustainable and efficient operations. Providing a channel to report abuses internally in an anonymous and confidential manner encourages employees, directors, suppliers, etc. to report wrongdoing without them becoming public. It also enables the company to act quickly to resolve problems.

In Brussels, Beci initiated the 303030 Charter. Its signatories, partners of the City Climate Challenge, are committed to sharing their resources, knowledge and know-how and to innovating together. Their goal? To reduce the Brussels-Capital Region’s CO2 emissions by at least 30% in 10 years. The private sector can thereby support and strengthen public policies and be part of the sustainable transformation of the urban spaceby following a grid of concrete objectives and quantified KPIs.
CIFAL Flanders is an international training centre connected to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) based in Antwerp. It focuses on sustainable development objectives, business and human rights, sustainable and circular business models and smart and sustainable cities.
The Federation’s partnership with CIFAL Flanders helps the Chambers acquire the necessary expertise necessary to aptly guide companies and to incorporate sustainability within the Chamber as well.
