A new chamber has recently joined the Federation: the Belgian Canadian Business Chamber. Based in Toronto, the Chamber formed an alliance with the Belgium-Quebec Business Circle in 2020 and has 139 members.
The aim of the Chamber is to promote the interests of its members, and to introduce Belgium to Canada’s business and financial capital, by organizing various events dedicated to business in the manufacturing, service and creative industries.
To this end, the BCBC regularly invites Belgian and Canadian speakers to take part in seminars on current economic topics. Networking activities are also organized for Belgian and Canadian companies to stimulate exchanges and economic initiatives.
One of the greatest issues the Chamber had to face in the mid-2000s was a lack of recruitment among the younger Belgian community. A challenge that the BCBC overcame with flying colors, by hiring a steady flow of young members from 2010 onwards, to ensure that the organization accurately reflects how diverse and dynamic the Belgian population in Canada is.
The Chamber of Commerce Canada-Belgium-Luxembourg (CanCham BeLux), based in Brussels, is also part of the Belgian Chambers network. The two organizations already cooperate, and will certainly strengthen the Belgian presence in the North American country in the future.
Do not miss the next BCBC Business Excellence Awards Gala, to be held April 25-28, 2022 in Toronto. The event is organized in collaboration with the Belgian Embassy in Canada and will honor entrepreneurs who have contributed to the success and prosperity of the Belgian-Canadian business community. The Gala will be the official closure of the Belgian Days in Toronto, an initiative of the Embassy of Belgium in Canada to promote the friendship and cooperation ties between Belgium and Canada.
