Belgium once again strongly represented in the World Chambers Federation

On 30 June 2025, the World Chambers Federation (WCF) announced the new composition of its General Council for the 2025–2028 term. The elections saw record participation, with over 500 chambers worldwide and no fewer than 59 candidates. A clear sign that the global chamber community’s voice has never been stronger.

The WCF, the global network of Chambers of Commerce within the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), serves as a key platform for international collaboration, knowledge sharing and policy influence.

Good news for Belgium

Tom Laveren, Managing Director of Voka – Mechelen-Kempen Chamber of Commerce and member of the Belgian Chambers executive committee, has been re-elected to represent Belgium on the WCF Council for the next three years. This ensures that Belgium remains prominently positioned within this global network.

In the coming years, the focus will remain on inclusive growth and strong representation of all regions. Of the 40 seats on the Council, 14 are allocated to Europe, 7 to the Americas, 10 to Africa and the Middle East, and 9 to Asia-Pacific. Six new vice-presidents have also been appointed to further balance regional representation.

Through this new team, the WCF aims to give businesses a voice at the international level. By collaborating on issues such as trade promotion, digitalization, and sustainable development, the WCF ensures that companies’ interests are heard at institutions like the World Trade Organization and the United Nations.

Access to a global network of potential business partners.
Greater influence on the trade environment through their local Chamber.
